A man is dead after crashing into a concrete pillar under the Eastex Freeway in north Houston

One person is dead after an accident occurred in the 3900 block of Saunders Rd. in north Houston on Saturday morning. The accident occurred just before 1 a.m. on August 6, 2022.

Officers with the Houston Police Department believe that this was a single-vehicle accident and do not have any suspects at this time but have released that a man was deceased.

An overnight security guard at the nearby grocery store, Fiesta, (a popular grocery chain in the Houston area) stated that a lot of “kids speed down that street”. He did not witness the accident.

Police had the area blocked off to thru traffic, and were canvassing the area as they try to piece everything together to determine what happened. The age and the identity of the victim have yet to be released as police confirm who the victim is and notify their family. At this point, it has not been determined if alcohol or drugs are involved. The vehicle, a Chrysler 300 was crushed and looked like it had paper plates. If it was not for the “300” logo on the back, it would be hard to determine the make/model.

The investigation is still in its early stages and there are still a lot of unanswered questions. We will update you as we learn more.

The Houston Police Department is leading the investigation. As always, if you have any additional information about the accident, you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or contact the Houston Police Department directly.
