Infant killed after being struck by man leaving party in west Houston


An infant was struck and killed by a driver leaving a party from a west Houston apartment complex.

The tragic accident happened at about 1:15 a.m. on August 15, 2022 when police say a car struck a 1-year-old infant.  The accident occurred at the Marquis at Westchase located at 2777 Woodland Park Dr. in west Houston near Westheimer Rd.

 

The driver, a male who is 33 year old was leaving a party at the apartment complex in a white Alfa Romeo Stelvio, when the vehicle struck the infant. The driver, drove both the parents and the child to HCA Healthcare West.

Doctors at HCA Houston Healthcare West were not able to save the baby and the baby was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver, police say did not seem to be impaired at the time of questioning and is cooperating with investigators. It is unknown at this time if the parents of the child and the driver knew each other. Police have not released any information regarding the identity of the driver or the parents as the investigation is still in its early stages. The driver was released after being questioned by investigators but the case will be referred to the Harris County Grand Jury to determine if any charges need to be filed.
