May 12, 2023 – A fatal vehicular accident occurred late last night on the North Freeway near Airtex, according to Sergeant Turman of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
Sgt. Turman reported that traffic units were called to the scene to investigate an auto-pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, investigators discovered that there had been a disturbance between an adult male and female prior to the incident.
Both individuals, in their thirties, were traveling in a black pickup truck on the freeway when the adult female passenger, reportedly, jumped out of the moving vehicle. She was subsequently struck by the truck and possibly another vehicle, resulting in her fatal injuries.
“The male and female were in a dating relationship,” Turman shared, confirming that the man did stop his vehicle following the incident. He remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.
As of now, it remains unclear whether intoxication played a role in the tragic accident. “We’re checking to see if there are signs of impairment or intoxication on the driver, and if so, did that impairment or intoxication possibly contribute to this crash.
That’s currently under investigation,” Sgt. Turman clarified.
The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
