Video: Teenager among two wounded in a late-night shooting Sunday at Wesley Square Apartments

May 21, 2023 – A teenager was among two victims in a late-night shooting at Wesley Square Apartments at 7402 Calhoun, according to police reports. The incident occurred at around 9:15 pm Sunday.

Officers found two individuals, a male believed to be a teenager, and an adult male, with gunshot wounds to their legs and groin areas. Both victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. The first was transported by the Houston Fire Department, and the other in a private vehicle. Currently, both victims are reported to be in stable condition. Police have yet to confirm the teenager’s age, but believe he may be 13 years old.

The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a confrontation between two groups in the apartment complex’s parking lot. This incident escalated, leading to a violent exchange of gunfire.

During their initial investigation, police officers noted extensive damage. Several apartments and vehicles at the complex bore the scars of the gunfire, and an electrical box had been damaged. This prompted a resident to reach out to CenterPoint Energy for repairs.

Lieutenant Gutierrez of the Houston Police Department stated that the major crimes unit will be taking over the investigation. He reported that officers found approximately 15 to 20 shell casings scattered across the parking lot.
