Argument leads to fatal triple shooting in Southwest Houston

May 26, 2023 – Earnest Garcia, Assistant Chief of the Houston Police Department, provided an update on a triple shooting that left one person dead. The event took place at a strip mall at the intersection of Boone and Harwin. The Houston Police Department received the report at 8:15 p.m.

Upon arriving at the location, officers located shell casings in a parking lot and a vehicle with windows shot out. The strip mall houses several businesses.

Two individuals, a man and a woman, approached the officers during the investigation. The man had gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital.

Garcia reported a prior disturbance in the parking lot involving two other individuals. He noted that the individuals knew each other.

At some point during the disturbance, a gun was fired. Another individual then retrieved a handgun from a vehicle and also began shooting. Uncertainties exist about who fired first and the total number of rounds discharged.

There are three reported victims from the incident. One is in critical condition, one is stable, and one is deceased.

Officers from the homicide division are gathering information, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the availability of surveillance footage from the strip mall.

No weapons have been recovered so far, but shell casings suggest that at least two handguns were used.

The information given is preliminary and might change. The Houston Police Department requests anyone with additional information to contact their homicide unit or Crime Stoppers.

The investigation is ongoing.
