In a late-night incident on June 3, 2023, a man was shot on his porch in the 5000 block of Ridgeway, prompting officers from the Southeast Patrol Division to respond to the scene. The unidentified victim, who was able to alert a family member of his condition after applying pressure to his wound, was found with a single gunshot wound to his neck.
Upon receiving the call from the victim’s family member, the police department immediately dispatched their officers. The Houston Fire Department also arrived at the scene around the same time as the police. The victim received initial treatment at the scene and was later transported to a local area hospital, where he is currently reported to be in critical condition.
Despite several witnesses present at the scene, none were able to provide substantial information about the incident. There was no indication of a car driving by or anyone walking by at the time of the shooting. At this juncture, investigators are uncertain whether the shot came from a stray bullet or if the victim was the specific target.
