HARRIS COUNTY, TX – August 19, 2023 – Two drivers struck and fatally wounded a woman attempting to cross the southbound North Freeway service road on foot Saturday night, authorities said. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 15800 block of the North Freeway southbound feeder near where it intersects with Richey Road.
According to Sgt. Steven Jumbo with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was not crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was initially struck by a silver SUV. The driver of the SUV fled the scene.
Moments later, another car traveling south hit the woman. The second driver initially thought they had hit debris and left the scene but later returned and spoke with police investigators.
The investigation into the fatal hit-and-run is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the silver SUV or the incident to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
