Oct. 8, 2023 – Frankie Leroy Washington, 32, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection to a fatal vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2801 Tidwell Road. Washington is slated to face trial in the 263rd State District Court.
The identity of the deceased 36-year-old male passenger is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A booking photo of Washington has been released to the media.
According to a report by the Houston Police Department (HPD) Vehicular Crimes Division, the incident involved a black Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling southbound on the 9500 block of Jensen Drive. The driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a METRO sign, and continued through the intersection at Tidwell Road. The pickup then collided with a curb on the west side of Jensen Drive and a wooden light pole before rolling multiple times and coming to rest in an upside-down position.
The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old female passenger was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Washington was determined to be impaired at the time of the incident and has subsequently been charged for his role in the fatal crash.
