Fatal Collision on North Freeway in Harris County Leaves One Dead, Two Hospitalized

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Friday, December 22, 2023, in north Harris County resulted in the death of one individual and the hospitalization of two others, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred in the 14500 block of the North Freeway, impacting the northbound lanes. Following the crash, these lanes were closed for approximately five hours to facilitate the investigation by the authorities.

The collision involved a man in his 50s, who was driving with his grandson. Their vehicle crashed into the rear of another car, which subsequently caught fire, leading to the death of its driver at the scene. Witnesses reported that the second car had halted on the highway due to mechanical issues.

The man and his grandson sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the first vehicle, who caused the crash, was not under the influence of alcohol, and no charges are expected to be filed in this case.
