Double Shooting at Coronado Park Apartments

Update: 1/15/24 9:25 a.m. (more information)

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that a man, Wilman Sandoval, aged 23, was arrested on Sunday afternoon for shooting his brother and his fiancée at an apartment complex in Harris County. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. off Fallbrook Drive near Highway 249 inside the Beltway.

Sandoval was charged with three counts of aggravated assault after being apprehended by authorities. A pistol was also recovered at the scene. The motive behind the shooting, as determined by investigators, was Sandoval’s belief that his victims were performing witchcraft on him.

The victims, Sandoval’s 26-year-old fiancée and his 17-year-old brother, were both seriously injured in the attack. The fiancée, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was listed in critical condition, while the brother, despite being shot, attempted to aid her before being transported to the hospital in serious condition. Both are expected to survive.

At the time of the shooting, five family members were present in the apartment, though no others were harmed. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking additional witnesses from the apartment complex.
