HOUSTON, Texas — A 23-year-old man was fatally shot at a large gathering on the evening of Friday in the 800 block of Rosewick, as reported by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. at a residence hosting 20-30 attendees, including children. According to HPD, the suspect, a man in his mid-20s, was allegedly under the influence of Xanax and was highly intoxicated at the gathering. Attempts by several attendees to persuade the intoxicated man to leave reportedly led to him becoming belligerent while awaiting his ride.
The situation escalated when the suspect, along with three other individuals, moved to the middle of the street. It was here that he is alleged to have drawn a pistol and fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the torso, arm, leg, and hand. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot. HPD has indicated they have a strong lead on the suspect’s identity and are currently conducting a search. It is believed the suspect resides in the vicinity of the incident.
