Two cousins now charged with murder stemming from a 2023 shooting

HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against two cousins, Edward Felton Edmond, Jr., 29, and Lason Edmond, 22, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at Driscoll Place apartments around 4:10 a.m. on September 16, 2023. The suspects are charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court. The victim has been identified as Vandy Williams, III, a 33-year-old male.

According to HPD’s Homicide Division, the Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, they discovered Williams unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Williams to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Initially, the motive and suspects in the shooting were unknown. Further investigation led to the identification of Edward and Lason Edmond, as suspects in the case. Edward was already in custody on unrelated charges with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Lason was apprehended on February 27 by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Louisiana State Police, and was subsequently booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail. He was extradited back to Harris County on April 2 and is currently held in the Harris County Jail.
