HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man was killed late Saturday night after jumping from an overpass onto Highway 290 in northwest Harris County.
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. in the 28000 block of 290 at the overpass of 99. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the man parked his vehicle on the overpass before jumping onto the main lanes of 290, where he was struck by at least one vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the man did not remain at the scene, and police say they are looking for that driver.
Deputies do not believe foul play was involved, noting that the man had a history of attempted suicide. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division will be investigating.
The man, described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s, has not yet been identified, and his family has not been notified. His name is being withheld at this time.
