Houston Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Person of Interest in Fatal Shooting on Greens Road

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of a woman at an apartment complex located in the 400 block of Greens Road. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday (September 18).

The person of interest is identified as 41-year-old Jerrell Butler. A photo of Butler is below.

The identity of the deceased male, 37, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to investigators, officers responded to the scene and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds and a 36-year-old woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene, and the woman was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was involved in an altercation inside an apartment with Butler, which resulted in his death. Butler, who is a family member of the female victim, fled the scene, possibly with a female companion in a maroon or red vehicle.

Detectives are seeking to speak with Butler regarding his involvement in this incident.
