HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating a fatal crash following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle on the Eastex Freeway on Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. in the 16100 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59).

According to a press release the Houston Police Department, the incident began when Humble Police Department officers, with support from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Montgomery County Precinct 4 deputies, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Houston Police, pursued a stolen silver Chevrolet Trailblazer. The vehicle was initially traveling eastbound near Will Clayton Parkway and the Eastex Freeway before the suspect began driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway service road and main lanes.
Montgomery County Precinct 4 deputies continued the pursuit while other agencies discontinued theirs. The suspect attempted to exit the freeway the wrong way near the 16100 block and collided with a silver Kia Soul in the exit lane. The female driver of the Kia and her male passenger were transported by Humble Fire Department paramedics to a nearby hospital, where the driver was pronounced deceased.
A suspect was also detained without further incident. The Humble Police Department will oversee the investigation into the suspect, with potential charges to be determined by their agency and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
As the crash occurred within the Houston city limits, the Houston Police Department is handling the investigation into the collision. The stolen vehicle and pursuit investigation remains under the jurisdiction of the Humble Police Department.
