HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A deputy-involved shooting occurred this afternoon near Wilson Road and the Beltway as members of the Violent Persons Task Force (VIPER) were conducting a warrant service on a 33-year-old suspect wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the incident began when the suspect fled in a vehicle, leading deputies on a pursuit that ended in the parking lot of a residential complex between Mesa and Wilson. Upon stopping, the suspect exited the vehicle with a long gun, prompting a brief foot pursuit. A Harris County Precinct 8 task force member discharged his weapon, striking the suspect.
The wounded suspect was transported to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to survive. No injuries were reported among law enforcement personnel. Sheriff Gonzalez praised the swift actions of the deputies, particularly due to the proximity of a daycare facility, Children’s Learning Adventure outside Fall Creek.
