Texas man arrested for threats of violence, including beheadings, against Houston Jewish Funerals

BELLAIRE, TX – A Texas man has been arrested after making violent threats, including references to beheadings, against Houston Jewish Funerals.

According to court documents, Saif Maurice Tajiran, 33, is accused of sending a threatening email to the funeral home on October 29, 2024, at approximately 6:07 a.m. The email, which investigators confirmed was sent from an iCloud account registered under Tajiran’s name, stated, in part, “I would like to help bury Jews so speed the process to bury more Jews. If you hire me I can work fast and I will save you Jews money. … If you want, I can behead more Jews and we can become rich together.”

A phone number provided in the email led police to contact Tajiran, who allegedly reiterated similar threatening statements during a phone call before abruptly ending the conversation. Investigators later confirmed Tajiran’s identity and connection to the email through his iCloud account and other records.

Court documents further allege that Tajiran’s actions were motivated by bias and prejudice against individuals based on their religion, race, and national ancestry. The threats caused fear of serious bodily injury for the funeral home’s staff.

An arrest warrant for terroristic threats, enhanced as a hate crime, was issued following the investigation. Tajiran was located and arrested on January 9, 2025, through the coordinated efforts of Bellaire’s Criminal Investigations Division, traffic units, and remote operations.

If you have any information about this case, you are urged to contact the Bellaire Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
