HOUSTON, TX – A passenger was killed and a driver injured following a fiery crash on the Eastex Freeway late Friday night.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on May 9, 2025, in the northbound lanes of the 3000 block of Eastex Freeway near Green Street.
Emergency medical services arrived to find a pickup truck engulfed in flames with both occupants still inside. The driver was rescued from the vehicle and transported to a hospital with injuries. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle lost control, struck the shoulder wall, and caught fire. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
