HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Michael Simmons, identified as the victim in a deadly parking lot shooting that occurred outside a shopping center at 6607 West Fuqua Street near Chimney Rock around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.
According to HPD Homicide Division investigators, officers responded to a shooting call and found that Simmons had been shot at least once. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives determined Simmons may have been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals immediately before the shooting. The group included two Black males and one Black female, all believed to be between 17 and 20 years old. The suspects were seen fleeing westbound from the scene on foot.
