HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating a fatal head-on crash that occurred early Saturday morning in the 2200 block of Hopper Road.

According to investigators, on October 25, 2025, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Juan Luis Velazquez Olvera was driving a silver 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound in the number one lane. At the same time, an unidentified driver operating a silver 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling westbound in the same lane.

A witness reported that the unidentified driver failed to maintain a single lane and veered into the eastbound number one lane, striking Velazquez Olvera’s vehicle head-on.

Velazquez Olvera was transported to HCA Kingwood Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Deputies noted signs of intoxication and conducted a follow-up at the hospital for a blood draw. Test results are pending.

The unidentified driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:53 a.m.

The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
