Woman struck by a train after parking her vehicle on the tracks with two dogs in east Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A woman was struck by a train after parking her vehicle on railroad tracks with two dogs in Houston.

The incident occurred around 11:27 p.m. in the 800 block of Sampson.

According to police, a woman in her 40s was inside a Ford Expedition with two dogs while parked on the tracks for unknown reasons. A Union Pacific freight train then struck the vehicle.

The woman was transported to a hospital in stable condition, the two dogs were taken to a shelter, and the train crew was not injured.

The scene was cleared shortly after 1 a.m.
