HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a man believed to have been wheelchair-bound Friday night in southeast Houston.

The crash occurred around 9:12 p.m. in the 4400 block of Reed Road.
According to investigators, the victim is believed to be a Black male who was using a wheelchair at the time of the incident. Police said he was struck by a vehicle believed to be a silver Mazda sedan traveling through the area.
Authorities said the driver did not stop after the crash and failed to remain at the scene or provide information.
A witness pointed out the suspected vehicle to officers, and investigators are now working to locate the silver Mazda and identify the driver involved.
Police have not released the victim’s name because he has not been firmly identified. However, investigators said they have spoken with family members and have a general idea of the victim’s identity.
The investigation remains ongoing.
