Homicide investigation underway after woman was found dead at west Houston apartment complex

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating after a woman was found deceased at an apartment complex in west Houston.

According to Houston police, Westside patrol officers were called to the Woodland Park Apartment Complex in the 2700 block of Woodland Park Drive at approximately 8:12 p.m. after receiving a report of an assault.

The caller who contacted 911 told dispatchers they had found a female body lying on the ground within the apartment complex.

Houston Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and declared the woman deceased.

Investigators said officers are canvassing the area for surveillance video and speaking with potential witnesses as the investigation continues.

The woman is believed to be in her mid-30s. Authorities said it is not yet known whether she was a resident of the apartment complex.

Her identity remains pending further investigation and an autopsy.

Houston Police Department homicide detectives are leading the investigation.
