SUGAR LAND, Texas — A Sugar Land police officer was injured during a traffic stop just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in Sugar Land.

The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of State Highway 6 at Frost Pass.
According to the Sugarland Police Department, the officer had initiated a routine traffic stop for an unknown violation when the driver stopped and the officer made contact. At some point during the encounter, the driver left the scene.
The officer sustained an injury to the arm during the incident. Police did not immediately specify how the injury occurred.
The officer was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
An active search was underway for the driver and vehicle involved. No additional information was immediately released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
