HOUSTON – A man was injured after gunfire broke out between two groups at a gas station in southwest Houston early Sunday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call at about 1 a.m. in the 6500 block of the Southwest Freeway near Hillcroft Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. Police said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Preliminary information indicates two separate groups arrived at the gas station in different vehicles. One group stopped near the air pump, while the other parked between pumps six and seven. Shortly after arriving, people from both groups exited their vehicles and exchanged gunfire.
Investigators do not yet know what led to the shooting. All suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.
The investigation remains ongoing.
