HOUSTON – Dr. Matthews addressed attendees at a meeting of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats held at Judge Wanda Adams’ Court, Precinct 7 Place 1, where she criticized Aubrey Taylor and urged Democratic candidates not to associate with him.

During her remarks, Dr. Matthews displayed what she said were three of Taylor’s mugshots, documents she identified as his discharge papers from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and other records she said related to his criminal history.
Dr. Matthews alleged Taylor was attempting to reestablish relationships within the Democratic Party after, according to her, being rejected by Republicans. She also claimed he had previously criticized Black female Democratic judges and was now attempting to work with Democratic campaigns.
Additionally, Dr. Matthews made several allegations regarding Taylor’s past, including claims involving child support, a protective order filed by a Democratic candidate, and his criminal history. She further alleged Republican candidates had distanced themselves from Taylor after learning of his criminal record.
Dr. Matthews warned Democratic candidates against working with Taylor, stating that those who do so could face public scrutiny and political opposition. She also said Democratic donors should not support campaigns that choose to work with him.
