BELLAIRE, Texas — A three-alarm apartment fire damaged approximately 16 units at the Pont Alba Apartments in Bellaire on Saturday night, prompting a large multi-agency response.

According to the Bellaire Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to the apartment complex in the 4300 block of Bissonnet Street after receiving reports of a structure fire.

Bellaire firefighters were assisted by the West University Place Fire Department, Southside Place Fire Department, and the Houston Fire Department. The incident was upgraded to a three-alarm response, with Bellaire’s initial alarm followed by two mutual aid alarms from the Houston Fire Department.

Officials said approximately 16 apartment units were affected by the fire. It was not immediately known how many residents were displaced.

No civilian injuries were reported. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion.

Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene to battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross was notified and is sending a representative to assist displaced residents.
