Man rescued, hospitalized after home catches fire in southwest Houston

HOUSTON — A man was rescued and hospitalized after his home caught fire earlier this morning in southwest Houston.

Firefighters responded around 1:17 a.m. to a home in the 15000 block of Buxley, where they arrived to find heavy fire conditions.

According to a Houston Fire Department captain at the scene, firefighters rescued the man from the burning home. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

After the victim was removed from the residence, firefighters transitioned to defensive operations as crews worked to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
