HOUSTON, TX — Two men were wounded Friday night in a suspected random drive-by shooting in northwest Houston, according to police.

The shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the 6100 block of West Tidwell Road. Houston police said two Hispanic men were walking and eating ice cream when a vehicle carrying four suspects pulled up and opened fire.

One victim was shot in the side of his stomach. The second victim was shot in his arm.

Arriving officers provided first aid until Houston Fire Department personnel arrived and transported both men to a local hospital. Both victims are in stable condition.

Officers patrolling the area detained one suspect nearby in the 6100 block of West Tidwell Road. The suspect provided information about the vehicle and the other suspects and is being interviewed by detectives.

Police said there is no indication the victims knew the suspects and the shooting may have been random. Police also said the shooting is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
