HOUSTON, TX – A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man, believed to be about 71 years old, was crossing Telephone Road in a crosswalk near Westover Street around 10:05 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Telephone.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver left the scene without rendering aid. Police described the suspect vehicle as a small white sedan.

The investigation is ongoing.
