HOUSTON, Texas — A man in his 20s died after he was shot with his own firearm during a struggle with his sister, also in her 20s, at the 55 Fifty at Northwest Crossing apartments, located at 5550 Bingle Road yesterday evening.

Police say the siblings got into an argument around 8:25 p.m. as the sister was trying to get her brother to leave from the apartment, where she had been allowing him to stay.

The man took his sister’s car keys and attempted to leave with her vehicle, leading to another argument and a struggle between the siblings.

During the struggle, the man, who had his own firearm, was shot in the stomach. Police believe at this time that he accidentally shot himself.

Houston Fire Department personnel arrived and began CPR before transporting the man to a local hospital, where he later died.

The sister was detained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators while the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division investigates.
