Motorcyclist killed after rear-ending 18-wheeler on I-10 near Grand Parkway

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman was killed after rear-ending an 18-wheeler while riding a motorcycle in the 22400 block of the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Grand Parkway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman and the 18-wheeler were traveling westbound when the crash occurred. She was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators believe failure to control speed was a primary factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

The woman has not been identified. Deputies said she was wearing protective gear at the time of the crash.

The 18-wheeler driver showed no signs of intoxication. Deputies expected the freeway to remain closed for three to four hours while commercial vehicle investigators conducted an inspection of the truck.
