HOUSTON, TX — A man in his mid-20s was hospitalized after being shot in the abdomen at the Birchbrook Apartments in the 12300 block of Fleming overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, a witness saw a person run toward the victim and fire about five shots before fleeing on foot. The victim was struck once.

Officers provided CPR until the man was transported to a hospital. He underwent surgery and was reported to be doing okay.

Police have not released a description of the gunman. The shooting remains under investig
