HOUSTON, TX — Dr. Matthews is calling on Harris County residents to independently review Judge Curvey’s record and the operation of the 280th District Court before the November election.

In a statement, Dr. Matthews raised allegations concerning the handling of protective-order proceedings and what she believes is a pattern of unfairness within the court.
Dr. Matthews said protective orders can affect a person’s family, employment, housing, firearm rights, reputation and freedom. She said everyone entering the courtroom deserves due process, an impartial judge and decisions based on evidence and the law.
Dr. Matthews said she intends to release court records, sworn statements, complaints and other documentation supporting her concerns. She also said she would identify statements that represent her opinion or allegations that have not been adjudicated.
“My call to the community is this: research the 280th District Court. Read the public records. Examine Judge Curvey’s record and conduct for yourself,” Dr. Matthews said.
Dr. Matthews urged voters to ask questions about due process and judicial impartiality before making their own decision in the November judicial race.
The concerns outlined by Dr. Matthews remain allegations unless established through official proceedings or court findings.
