HOUSTON – A 26-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting at The Landings at Northpoint apartment complex in Greenspoint around 9:20 p.m. Sunday night.
Police said officers responding to reports of gunfire and a person down found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds across his body. Houston firefighters treated him before transporting him to a hospital in critical condition.
The man was initially conscious and told officers he was wounded in a drive-by shooting.
Officers found a blood trail leading to an apartment with an open door. Shoes believed to belong to the victim, who was found barefoot, were outside the apartment.
Police found spent shell casings, live rounds, blood and narcotics inside the apartment, which investigators believe may be the crime scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a woman and two men run from the apartment after the shooting, enter a vehicle and leave the area.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting. No suspect or vehicle description was released.
