HOUSTON, TX — A man was fatally shot while following a vehicle after he was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in Harris County.

Sgt. Sidney Miller with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit said the man, who was in his 30s, called 911 shortly after 4 p.m. and reported that he had been robbed while meeting someone at a location in Harris County.

The man told dispatchers he was following the suspect’s vehicle. Minutes later, he reported that he had been shot after entering Houston.

One person was detained at the scene and taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. Miller said the person is being treated as a witness and has not been identified as a suspect.

HCSO is leading the investigation because the incident began in Harris County. Investigators are searching for witnesses and surveillance video.
