HOUSTON, TX — A man was fatally shot while sitting on a porch at Cerca Demi Apartments in northwest Houston. Houston police said officers responded to the 3400 block of Blaylock shortly before 8 p.m. and found the man with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said a masked suspect approached the man and began talking with him before pulling out a pistol and shooting him. Investigators have not determined what led to the shooting or whether it involved a robbery.

Officers found the suspect hiding in brush near a bayou north of the apartments with a broken ankle. Police say the injury may have occurred when the suspect jumped a fence while fleeing. The suspect is in custody.
