Man’s body recovered from Buffalo Bayou amid calls for city action

HOUSTON, Texas – A man’s body was recovered from Buffalo Bayou in Houston’s East End earlier today.

The Houston Fire Department and Houston Police Department responded, along with a dive team, and pulled the man’s body from the bayou.

Norma Mottu, a concerned neighbor who lives in the area and was driving by, called on Mayor Whitmire to work with the police chief and direct more resources toward investigating bodies found in the bayous.

“Use your Flock cameras. Put some more Flock cameras,” Mottu said.

Mottu expressed concern for friends who run and exercise along Buffalo Bayou and urged city leaders to protect residents.

She also criticized immigration enforcement involving people she described as noncriminal immigrants, saying more attention should be directed toward the bayou deaths. Mottu referenced Lorenzo Salgado’s death while expressing frustration with the city’s priorities.
