HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman was found deceased inside a home in the 4400 block of Sandydale last night after an out-of-state caller reported that his brother had told him he killed his girlfriend.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect’s brother contacted dispatchers at both the sheriff’s office and the Houston Police Department to request welfare checks at several locations.
Houston police initially checked an address within the city but found no incident there. As the caller provided additional information, deputies responded to the home on Sandydale and discovered the woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Houston police later located the suspect at another location within the city. He was detained and brought back to the scene.
Investigators said the woman lived at the home with relatives. She was found in a room separated from the rest of the house, and family members who were present did not know she was there until deputies arrived. The suspect did not live at the home.
Investigators believed the woman and suspect were in their early to mid-20s and were dating. They were not believed to be married or to have children together. Their identities had not been confirmed at the time of the briefing.
EMS evaluated the suspect and family members at the scene. Investigators planned to interview the suspect after he was medically cleared.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remained under investigation and investigators had not determined whether anyone witnessed the incident.
