TEXAS — Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanell X confronted attorney CJ Grisham inside the Harris County Courthouse following allegations that he made racist and derogatory comments about Black women.
Quanell X accused Grisham of intimidating Black women and challenged him face-to-face. Deputies intervened to keep those involved moving along.
Dr. Matthews had also confronted Grisham outside the courthouse, accusing him of previously using derogatory terms for Black women and challenging him to repeat those remarks directly to her. She also alleged that Grisham and others from Smith County made racist social media posts.
The confrontation followed a hearing involving two women whom Dr. Matthews said provided information connected to the Nolan Wells case. The next court date is scheduled for November.
Sheriff’s deputies later escorted Grisham out through a back entrance.
