HOUSTON — A 46-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault and harassment of a peace officer after officers responded to a structure fire near the intersection of Tidwell and Lockwood.

Houston firefighters contained and extinguished the fire without any reported injuries.

Witnesses told officers the fire was intentional and that the suspect had just left the location. A witness also said the woman had assaulted her multiple times by pushing her, spraying her with Mace and using a mini Taser.

Officers located and detained the woman, then brought her back to the scene. She allegedly spit on an officer while officers were trying to place her on a stretcher for firefighters.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the Joint Processing Center and booked on the charges.
