Fatal shooting of woman on Cline Street to be referred to Harris County grand jury

HOUSTON, TX – The fatal shooting of a 23-year-old woman at 3415 Cline Street will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. The shooting occurred about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The identity of the woman is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to the Houston Police Department Homicide Division, patrol officers responded to a shooting call and learned the woman had suffered at least one gunshot wound. She was transported by paramedics to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The male shooter told officers the woman arrived at his residence and began banging on the front door. He stated he let her inside, where she became aggressive and began damaging property. He reported that during a physical altercation he called 911, and the woman left the residence to the back porch, retrieved a weapon, and returned inside. The man stated he then armed himself, and when the woman pointed her weapon at him, he discharged his firearm, striking her.

After consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the case would be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
