Firefighters rescue woman and 3-year-old child from early morning house fire

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Fire crews were dispatched around 3:03 a.m. for a house fire in the 6800 block of Redding Springs, where bystanders reported people trapped inside.

Crews entered the home and found an adult female and a 3-year-old child together on the second floor. Both victims were brought outside, where CPR was administered. EMS regained pulses for both before transport, and they remain in critical condition.

Three additional people were transported in stable condition for smoke inhalation. A total of seven occupants were inside the home. Five were transported, and two remained at the scene. All were family members living together.

Approximately 25 firefighters from two departments responded. The fire was contained within five minutes, with most damage on the second floor and smoke damage throughout the house. Crews faced difficulty entering due to vertical security bars on the home.

Fire officials stressed the importance of having a home escape plan and keeping keys to burglar bars accessible in case of an emergency.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. The family will be displaced and is being assisted by relatives.
