Suspected drunk driver arrested after deputies struck in crash on North Sam Houston Parkway

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A suspected drunk driver was arrested after crashing into patrol units and striking deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office, leaving both deputies seriously injured.

The crash occurred around 3:53 a.m. on August 28, 2025, in the 1200 block of the North Sam Houston Parkway. According to Constable Mark Herman, a male Corporal was transported by LifeFlight to Hermann Hospital, while a female deputy was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital.

Constable Herman’s Accident Investigation Unit determined that the at-fault driver, identified as Wilfredo Chaves Arzola, showed multiple signs of intoxication. He refused standardized field sobriety tests, and deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample.

Arzola was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Intoxication Assault with Serious Bodily Injury – Peace Officer and Reckless Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Peace Officer, both first-degree felonies. His bond and court information have not been set.
