Driver charged with DUI after Tesla crashes into cars at St. Georges Technical High School

ST. GEORGES, DE – A Wilmington man has been arrested following a crash in the parking lot of St. Georges Technical High School that left two people injured.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident happened on September 9, 2025, around 3 p.m., while school was in session. A School Resource Officer was alerted that a Tesla was driving erratically in the wrong direction through the school’s parking lot and had struck another vehicle.

The Tesla, driven by 45-year-old Andrew Naylor of Wilmington, crashed into three parked vehicles — a Volkswagen Jetta operated by a 55-year-old Delaware City woman, a Chevrolet Trax driven by a 42-year-old Middletown man, and a Honda Civic driven by a 45-year-old Townsend man. The Jetta’s driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Trax was hospitalized with serious injuries. The Civic’s driver declined treatment.

Troopers said Naylor’s vehicle was found disabled after the crashes, and he was still seated inside. While speaking with him, the SRO noticed the odor of alcohol, and a search of the vehicle revealed multiple bottles of alcoholic beverages. Naylor was also taken to the hospital for evaluation, where police obtained a blood search warrant for DUI before transporting him to Troop 6.

Naylor was charged with:

  • Vehicular Assault First Degree (Felony)
  • Vehicular Assault Second Degree
  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $1,100 unsecured bond.

No students or staff members at the school were injured, and classes were not disrupted.
