KINGWOOD, TX – A man believed to be wanted on multiple charges, including felony assault, was involved in a standoff with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team on Thursday at a residence in the 2000 block of Shadow Rock Drive near Kingwood and Woodland Hills Drives.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies were serving a warrant for a 46-year-old male suspect facing a felony assault charge in Harris County and a possible protective order violation in Montgomery County.
When deputies arrived around 11 a.m., the suspect reportedly refused to come out and allegedly fired shots from inside the home. No personnel were injured, but some first responders’ equipment was struck. Additional gunfire was reportedly heard from inside the residence.
Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed that chemical munitions were deployed into the home but were ineffective.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the suspect allegedly started a fire inside the house. No law enforcement officers were inside at the time. As of 4 p.m., the fire remained active, though Houston Fire Department crews reported the flames were under control. Firefighters operated from protected positions outside the home.
Neighbors were evacuated, and CenterPoint Energy was called to manage a gas point near the property. No injuries to bystanders or law enforcement were reported, and surrounding homes were not damaged.
According to court records, the man wanted in connection with the original warrant is identified as 46-year-old Christian Andrew Peck. He has an active warrant for a felony charge of assault of a family member by impeding breathing, stemming from a 2022 Harris County case.
Just before 5 p.m., Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed that Houston Fire Department personnel had entered the residence and located a deceased person and a rifle inside the rubble. It has not been confirmed at this time whether the deceased person is the suspect originally sought by authorities.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
