AMARILLO, TX – A suspicious bag that initially tested positive for explosive powder prompted a lockdown at Rick Husband International Airport on Saturday morning.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were called to the airport at 9:54 a.m. after TSA personnel located the bag. As a precaution, the airport was placed on lockdown while the APD bomb team responded to assess the situation.
After a thorough investigation, the bomb team determined the bag was safe and there was no threat to the public. The airport resumed normal operations around 12:13 p.m.
Officials thanked passengers and the public for their cooperation during the incident.
