Deputies rescue 2-year-old left in hot SUV at H-E-B parking lot in northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to an H-E-B parking lot Monday morning after receiving reports of a two-year-old child locked inside an SUV that was not running.

Upon arrival, deputies found the child sweating in the back seat. With assistance from the Cy-Fair Fire Department, first responders were able to quickly and safely remove the child from the vehicle. The child was evaluated and is expected to be okay.

Constable Herman’s Office is reminding the public of the following safety tips:

  • Never leave children unattended in a vehicle, even for a minute.
  • Always check the back seat before locking your car.
  • If you see a child or pet in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.
