BRADFORD, PA, Sept. 17, 2025 – McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer announced today that additional charges have been filed against Tyler Prescott, the father of the infant found deceased in Bradford on August 14.

Prescott, who was previously charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, now faces charges of Criminal Homicide, Rape of a Child, and other related offenses following the receipt of autopsy findings and forensic evidence.
The new charges include:
- Criminal Homicide
- Rape of a Child
- Rape of a Child Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
- Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse of a Child
- Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse of a Child Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
- Aggravated Indecent Assault of a Child
- Indecent Assault
- Incest of a Minor
Prescott was initially held on $1 million bail. However, following the filing of the new homicide charge—a non-bailable offense in Pennsylvania—bail was revoked. He remains incarcerated at the McKean County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 7.
Background:
On August 14, first responders were called to a residence at 60 Sherman Street for an unresponsive child. The infant was pronounced deceased at BRMC. Prescott was arrested the same day and initially charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault for injuries inflicted on his 2-year-old son between July 17 and August 14.
The case is being investigated by the City of Bradford Police Department with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit, County Detective Bureau, and District Attorney’s Office.
