DOVER, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred on Dyke Branch Road Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened September 20, 2025, around 3:30 p.m. when a Honda Accord traveling eastbound failed to remain in its lane while approaching a curve west of Wheel of Fortune Road. The Honda crossed into the westbound lane, where a Volvo S40 was approaching. The Volvo’s driver swerved left into the eastbound lane to avoid a collision, but the Honda re-entered the lane, resulting in a head-on crash.
The driver of the Honda, a 70-year-old Dover man who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a hospital and later pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the Volvo, a 16-year-old Dover male, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. His passenger, a 45-year-old Dover woman, was also seatbelted and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dyke Branch Road was closed for about three and a half hours while Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.
